Now your mobile number can be 11 digits. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made a proposal on Friday. In the proposal, TRAI has suggested using an 11-digit mobile number in the country. According to Traina, if the 10-digit mobile number becomes an 11-digit mobile number, more mobile numbers will be available in the country.

The number of mobile numbers in the country can be increased to 1000 crore
In its proposal, TRAI said that if the first digit of a mobile number is kept at 9, switching to a 10 to 11 digit mobile number would create a total capacity of 10 billion (1000 crore) numbers in the country. TRAI further said that under the current policy, 70 per cent utilization could generate 70 per cent of Rs 1,000 crore, i.e. 700 crore connections.

Zero must be forwarded when making a call

Apart from this, TRAI has proposed to put '0' in front of the mobile number when calling from a fixed line. All free sub-levels of Level 2, 3, 4 and 6 can be used as mobile numbers by making it mandatory to make zero calls to mobiles from fixed networks, TRAI said
